APL LOGISTICS ACQUIRES FSG’s ASSETS IN GERMANY

APL LOGISTICS ACQUIRES FSGÆS ASSETS IN GERMANY    APL Logistics, the integrated supply chain management services provider, said Tuesday it is taking over the assets of the FSG companies, the German domestic appliances and consumer electronics goods specialist.
   The transaction covers the activities of three FSG companies — FSG Fair and Exhibition Service GmbH, FSG Distributions GmbH and FSG Lagerabwicklungs GmbH — and includes customer contracts, corporate assets and the staff of the three companies, a total of 120 people. The transaction does not involve APL Logistics assuming any FSG liabilities.
   APL Logistics said the FSG deal strengthens its competencies of value-added warehousing, kitting/subassembly, labor supply services, freight management, distribution, cross-docking and an information technology platform that incorporates online proof of delivery.
   The company, which has been expanding its business activities within Europe, has targeted the European retail market's consumer electronics sector as a target market for future growth.
   Last year, APL Logistics acquired Hamburg-based Mare Logistik.
