The New York/Budapest service started Monday departing New York at 6 p.m. before arriving in Budapest the next morning at 8:55 a.m. Return flights leave Budapest at 11:55 a.m. and arrive back in New York at 3:25 p.m. The service will initially operate five times weekly, expanding to a daily roundtrip service from Aug. 3 to Sept. 30.
The daily Atlanta/Nice flights started Tuesday leaving Atlanta at 8:20 p.m. before arriving in Nice at 7:25 a.m. the next day. The return flight leaves Nice at 2:10 p.m. and arrives back at Atlanta at 6:40 p.m. The airline already serves Nice via New York.
Both of the new services use Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
“We are excited to build on the momentum of the largest international expansion in Delta’s history by becoming the only U.S. carrier to provide a nonstop link between Budapest and New York while at the same time expanding our unique position as the only U.S. carrier to serve Nice,” said Glen Hauenstein, Delta’s executive vice president, network and revenue management.
The new services are fourth and fifth of a series of 11 new transatlantic routes due to be launched by June from its transatlantic gateways at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The remaining new services are:
* New York/Dublin, Ireland, May 15.
* New York/Manchester, England, May 15.
* Atlanta/Athens, Greece, May 29.
* Atlanta/Venice, Italy, June 6.
* New York/Kiev, Ukraine, start to be confirmed.
