“Normal” vessel range increases at Southern California ports
Increased numbers of cargo ships calling at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach has the organization responsible for vessel traffic in Southern California ratcheting up the number it considers to be the “normal range” of vessels in port at any one time.The Marine Exchange of Southern California had previously considered the typical number of ships in the ports to be 30 to 45 at any one time, but since the congestions crisis of 2004, the upper end of that range has been the norm, forcing the Marine Exchange to recalculate the typical situation in the port.
Now the normal range is considered to be 40 to 55.
