Former Hanjin chair receives top Long Beach Port award The Port of Long Beach has presented its highest award to the late Soo Ho Cho, chairman of Seoul, South Korea-based Hanjin Shipping who passed away in November.
   Port officials presented the Honorary Port Pilot Award to Eun-Young Choi, Cho's widow, on Feb. 8 during a ceremony in South Korea.
   Cho joined Hanjin in 1985 and was promoted to company president in 1994. He became chairman in 2003.
   Hanjin Shipping and its affiliate, Total Terminals International, are among the Port of Long Beach's largest customers.
   Since 1954, the port has honored individuals in the international trade industry with the award. Named for the port pilots who guide cargo ships in and out of the harbor, the award is presented to notable individuals in the field of international trade. Since 1954, more than 50 individuals from business and government, including CEOs, prime ministers, ambassadors, congress members, U.S. Cabinet officials and two U.S. presidents, have received the award.
