The United Kingdom’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said the operation would be carried out initially to cut the deck plates, with a further operation on Wednesday to cut the longitudinal joists. It is then hoped that this will allow the part of the ship forward of the accommodation block to be parted from the stern.
The MCA is implementing a 1,000-meter exclusion zone around the vessel, and authorities are closing a number of local footpaths around Branscombe Beach prior to the cutting charges being detonated.
