FedEx SupplyChain invests in technology

FedEx SupplyChain, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and an integrated logistics provider, has rolled out a suite of visibility and control options along with opening new stocking locations to further support its FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics customers.
The company said it added more than 100 new stocking locations to this inventory network with the largest investments and expansions coming in India and Mexico. FedEx said the investments were made based on customer need and growth areas.
FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics has added in a global event management system that establishes plans and milestones for critical and major orders, staying on top of the tracking information with the hopes of allowing customers to better track shipments.
The system can also monitor when events don’t happen, so if a scan is scheduled but never sends the clear data, users are notified and follow-up actions can be triggered to bring the shipment back on course.
In addition to event management, more customers will have access to FedEx staff members for assistance through a 24-hour logistics global command and control support service. The FedEx Critical Inventory Logistics technology enhancements also include adding in order placements via Websites and file uploads to its existing phone, email, and electronic-data-interchange (EDI) submissions. All of these orders can still be tracked through the Critical Inventory Logistics application on fedex.com.
