Forth Ports predicts positive first half result The United Kingdom’s Forth Ports PLC said today its first half results for this year are expected to be well ahead of the first six months of 2007.
   The company said the Port of Tilbury, which is on the final shortlist for the Olympics East London logistics site, will show another significant improvement over the first half of last year with good volume increase in roll-on/roll-off business.
   Within the Scottish ports and marine division, the piped cargo tonnages have increased to their highest level in four years and container volumes at Grangemouth have increased more than 10 percent versus the first half of 2007.
   “As in prior years, the second half of the year should see an improvement in the financial performance over the first half and we expect a strong trading performance for the full year,” the company said in a statement.
   Forth Ports is scheduled to publish its interim results for the six months ended June 30 2008 on Aug. 28.
