In New Orleans, a barge collided with the cruise ship 'Fantasy' on Saturday, causing a 30-foot gash in the cruise ship about five feet above the waterway.
The collision happened while the cruise ship was in the last miles of a homeward journey.
There was minor damage to the barge, which was one of six rice barges being pushed by the towing vessel 'Repentance.' No injuries or pollution resulted from the collision.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit in Baton Rouge, La. is investigating the cause of an collision by an oil tanker with the Interstate 10 bridge.
On Saturday the 798-foot tanker 'Kition' collided with the bridge at mile marker 229 along the Lower Mississippi River near the Port Allen Route.
The 'Kition' is a Bahama-flagged tanker, owned by Kition Shipping Co. Ltd. in Switzerland.
The tanker was carrying 466,000 barrels of carbon black crude oil at the time. Again, there were no reports of injuries or pollution.
