The settlement over violations of state law requiring firms to inspect their diesel trucks and ensure they meet state exhaust limits, called for UP to pay $120,000.
UP, according to the air board, failed to inspect and document its trucks’ emissions from 2004 to 2005.
The bulk of the settlement money, which UP has already paid, went into the California Air Pollution Control Fund, a state-controlled fund that mitigates pollution.
