Trade Symposium scheduled for mid-November

Trade Symposium scheduled for mid-November U.S. Customs and Border Protection will host its annual Trade Symposium in Washington Nov. 14-15, followed by the quarterly meeting of the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee on Nov. 16, the agency announced Thursday.
   The schedule was designed to minimize travel and take advantage of industry representatives in town for the main event.
   CBP has yet to begin accepting registrations for the popular gathering of import-export professionals.
   Next year the federal advisory group plans to meet outside of Washington on two occasions — once in conjunction with the Trade Support Network meeting or the American Association of Exporters and Importers Winter Conference during January, and once in Seattle in August — because of an inability this year to follow tradition and schedule one meeting in another city, COAC spokesman Bruce Leeds said. COAC members like to take the field trips so they can tour local port of entry and gain some first-hand experience about the operations in different parts of the country.
