U.S. supports modernizing Haiti’s aviation

U.S. supports modernizing HaitiÆs aviation    The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has awarded a $813,000 grant to the Autorit' A'roportuaire Nationale (AAN), Haiti’s national airport authority, to conduct an analysis of priority airport infrastructure modernization projects.
   This assistance will allow the authority to design and implement important upgrades at Haiti’s principal international airport in Port-au-Prince, USTDA said.
   USTDA is working with AAN to develop plans, project costs and implementation timelines for several high-priority projects that require prompt implementation to improve the safety and efficiency of airport operations. The projects to be studied through this technical assistance grant include:
   ' Construction of a parallel taxiway.
   ' A new air traffic control tower.
   ' A sewage collection system.
   ' A wastewater treatment plant.
   ' A power generation facility.
   ' Other high priority post-earthquake upgrades and repairs.
   The opportunity to conduct the USTDA-funded technical assistance will be competed on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) Web site. A link to the FBO announcement will be posted to USTDA’s Web site. The Autorit' A'roportuaire Nationale will select the U.S. contractor that will complete the technical assistance.
