New cargo boss coming to Swiss in September

Add Swiss World Cargo’s Chief Cargo Officer Oliver Evans to the growing list of long-time cargo bosses who have retired in the last few years.    Add Swiss World Cargo’s Chief Cargo Officer Oliver Evans to the growing list of long-time cargo bosses who have retired in the last few years.
Evans announced last week he will leave his post in September. He has spent the last 12 years at Swiss, and he has served as the top cargo boss since 2005. His previous posts included work with BAX Global and KLM.
The long-time cargo head said he won’t be retiring immediately and will instead “pursue self-employment in the air logistics industry on his way into retirement.”
According to the carrier, it is already looking for his replacement.
“In Oliver Evans, we are losing a successful executive and a greatly valued colleague,” Swiss Chief Executive Officer Harry Hohmeister said in a statement. “We will be very sorry to see him go, but we also appreciate that, after so many years in his current capacity, he is now seeking a new professional challenge.”
Evans has served as the chairman of The International Air Cargo Association since 2013 after serving as vice chairman for two years.
TIACA is on the front lines of developing a new generation of cargo leaders, a task that has been debated in the air cargo community for some time. The group will host the three-day Air Cargo Professional Development Workshop in Johannesburg in February.
According to a TIACA press release, the course, which is “designed to develop management skills for air cargo professionals, will be the first in a global series of up to four next year, following the success of TIACA’s inaugural workshop in the Netherlands this summer.”
