Boardley to join Lloyd’s Register

Boardley to join LloydÆs Register Tom Boardley, chief executive officer of CMA-CGM (UK), will become the next marine director of Lloyd’s Register, succeeding Alan Gavin, who is retiring June 30, 2009 after a 34-year career in marine classification.
   Gavin will continue in an advisory role to Lloyd’s Register.
   Boardley is the senior representative of the CMA CGM shipping group in the United Kingdom, responsible for ship management, short sea shipping line management, and the liner agency of the four CMA CGM brands in the United Kingdom. He has extensive experience of working in the container, transport and ports sector in Europe, Canada, the Far East and Australasia in a career spanning 24 years with P&O. He was deputy managing director for NYK Line (Europe) before taking up his current post in CMA-CGM.
   Lloyd’s Register said Boardley would begin work in the second quarter of 2009, “allowing time for a good handover from Alan Gavin.”
