LSP to use CargoSphere for self-managed contracts and rates

The logistics services provider Blu Logistics has integrated the cloud-based global rate management solution from CargoSphere.
Blu Logistics, which operates in seven countries, opened its North American office in 2009. The company, which offers sea and air freight services, customs brokerage, ground transportation, and warehousing, previously outsourced freight rate and contract management.
CargoSphere said the switch to a self-managed system “has significantly reduced the cost of managing this business process area.”
“Within two months, Blu entered 17 confidential carrier contracts using CargoSphere’s SUDS (Smart Upload and Diagnostic Solution), which reads external rate data directly from any carrier contract format and loads it into a standardized rate system database,” CargoSphere said in a statement. “With this progress, Blu Logistics is automating the time-consuming and tedious task of managing and processing voluminous carrier contracts and numerous contract amendments in-house.”
Blu Logistics is also building a confidential rate sharing network with trusted parties (such as neutral non-vessel-operating common carriers) over CargoSphere’s Rate Mesh to add shared less-than-containerload rates to their entered contract rates to build a more robust price quoting database.
“When we sat down with CargoSphere, we didn’t think self-management of our carrier contracts would be possible,” said Carrie Dollear, director strategic relationships and revenue management, Blu Logistics. “But after seeing SUDS demonstrated, we were convinced that this was finally a software solution that truly addressed the need to convert static contract files, many in spreadsheet format, to an automated, standardized database.”
