Persons who regularly access Georgia ports authority’s marine terminals, defined as making five port visits in a 90-day period, must obtain an identification badge, the authority said. Badges issued through the Savannah credentialing center will be accepted at all port authority terminals.
The port authority estimates that as many as 10,000 Georgians will receive credentials. To date, it has received more than 2,500 applications and issued more than 1,300 credentials.
Visitor passes will be available at entry gates for persons who only require periodic access to the facilities for legitimate business purposes as determined by the Georgia ports authority.
Identity badge applicants are urged to visit the authority’s Web site at https://www.gaports.com as all applications must be made online. Company registration will precede badge application requests for individual employees.
“This credentialing program will further improve the security and safety at our terminals and for the people who work there,” said David A. Schaller, deputy executive director of the port authority.
