Shipco opens Osaka sales office

   Non-vessel-operating common carrier Shipco Transport has opened a new sales office in Osaka to better serve freight forwarders in the Western area of Japan.
   In addition to Osaka, the office will include sales to forwarders in Kobe, Hakata and Moji. Takaaki Onishi, general manager of Shipco Tokyo, will oversee the staff in Osaka.
   “Almost all of our customers, NVOCCs and forwarders, are located in this area,” Onishi said. “By having a local office, we can easily reach our potential and existing customers allowing us to better service their needs and to build stronger relationships.”
   Shipco Osaka already operates services to Los Angeles, Singapore and Hong Kong and plans to start services to Chicago, the United Kingdom, Dalian and Xingang during the year. The neutral NVO also plans to strengthen its existing ocean freight service between Osaka and Los Angeles with an additional sailing, bringing the frequency to twice weekly.
   Shipco is a subsidiary of Scan-Group, an international shipping and transportation company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has more than 2,000 employees in own offices worldwide.
