U.S. donates another $5 million in food aid to Afghanistan    The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday it will donate another $5 million in food aid to Afghanistan.
   This announcement follows a government-to-government grant agreement with Afghanistan released in August by the USDA, which includes the donation of $5 million in U.S. soybean oil. The soybean oil will arrive in Afghanistan by the end of the year, USDA said.
   “Under the Food for Progress program, the soybean oil will be sold locally with the proceeds used to finance a wide range of rural development projects that will help strengthen and revitalize the country’s agriculture,” USDA said.
   In addition to the U.S. Agency for International Development, USDA has provided $28 million in food aid for Afghanistan in its 2003 programs. Most USDA food donations to Afghanistan are handled by the Aga Khan Foundation and World Vision.
