Mexico, U.S. strengthen air cargo bond

The Department of Transportation has secured a new air services agreement, which will be implemented in 2016.    Regulators in the United States and Mexico have reached an air services agreement that will strengthen air cargo opportunities between the countries, according to a Department of Transportation press release.
   The agency said the agreement, which is effective Jan. 1, 2016, includes “unlimited market access for U.S. and Mexican air carriers, improved intermodal rights, pricing flexibility, and other important commercial rights.”
   The department said the deal provides cargo carriers access to cities that were not included under the old air services agreement .
   “Travelers, shippers, airlines and the economies of both countries will benefit from competitive pricing and more convenient air service,” Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said in a statement. “This agreement is the result of the commitment on both sides of the border to strengthen the strong bonds of trade and tourism between our two countries, and demonstrate our shared commitment to a competitive, market-based international economic system.”
