Commerce’s Camu?ez joins Helsinki Commission

CommerceÆs Camu±ez joins Helsinki Commission    President Obama has appointed Michael C. Camu'ez, the Commerce Department's assistant secretary for market access and compliance, to the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission.
   The Helsinki Commission is an independent U.S. government agency charged with monitoring compliance with the Helsinki Accords and advancing comprehensive security through promotion of human rights, democracy, and economic, environmental and military cooperation in 56 countries.
   Camu'ez will focus his work on the commission's economic and environmental aspects, which promote greater economic cooperation, good governance, sustainable development, and environmental protection among member states. Of particular importance for Camu'ez will be the commission's anticorruption work.
   Commerce Department's Market Access and Compliance unit supports developing and opening new markets for U.S. goods and services overseas, identifies and eliminates significant market access challenges, and helps monitor and enforce trade agreements and commitments.
