IMS Rail handles containers from Rotterdam

IMS Rail handles containers from Rotterdam    Basel-based IMS Rail Switzerland will take over railed container transport at the Dutch port of Rotterdam from ICF West, effective Tuesday.
   In early January, container operator IMS Intermove Systems Speditions- und Transport GmbH in Vienna agreed to take over the activities of business unit West from ICF Intercontainer-Interfrigo SA, a company in liquidation.
   Recently formed IMS Rail Switzerland is headed by Chief Executive Officer Enrique Rivas and Max Kuske, who manages the company's sales and marketing division. An operations manager will be appointed in the next few days, IMS Rail said.
   In addition to IMS GmbH in Vienna, VeKa Group in the Netherlands has become a shareholder in IMS Rail Switzerland. VeKa Group is an established player in shipbuilding and has expanded into logistics in the past few years.
   In the initial stages of the new operation, IMS Rail Switzerland will offer logistics firms and shippers three shuttle round trips per week between Switzerland and Rotterdam. Shuttle trains between the German seaports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven and Switzerland will shortly join the service.
