OOCL starts empty pickup service

OOCL starts empty pickup service    Liner carrier OOCL said Friday it has started an empty container pickup appointment service in Hong Kong, where the company is based.
   'This service is the first of its kind in the shipping industry,' OOCL said in a statement. 'Customers can make appointments prior to empty container pickup by simply calling our hotline number. They can also amend or cancel their appointments and make changes on pickup time. EPA service ensures customers can pick up empty containers as per appointment at designated locations. This saves time for customers by avoiding unnecessary transit between depots.'
   The program, launched in October, has been met with a favorable response from shippers and truckers, the line said. OOCL said it is considering extending the service to Shenzhen, with launch date and details to be announced.
