Pacer’s 3rd-quarter profit up 29.2%

Pacer’s 3rd-quarter profit up 29.2%    Concord, Calif.-based third-party logistics and freight transportation provider Pacer International Inc.’s third quarter net income jumped 29.2 percent to $14.6 million, compared to $11.3 million in the same period last year.
   Operating income in the latest quarter rose 26.7 percent to $26.1 million, from $20.6 million a year earlier. Consolidated revenue lifted just 0.8 percent to $441.6 million.
   For the year-to-date, Pacer’s net income rose 1 percent to $30.5 million, from $30.2 million after nine months last year, which includes $11.3 million Pacer wrote off for computer software development costs in the second quarter. Operating income improved 1.4 percent to $57 million, while consolidated revenue is up 6.2 percent to $1.35 billion.
