Container volume measured in 20-foot equivalent units was down 1 percent, to 22,863 TEUs. For the first three months of the year, container volume dropped by 19 percent.
Grain tonnage fell 22 percent in March, to about 215,000 tons. The number of autos handled in March was up 65 percent, to about 37,000 units, compared to the previous March. Mineral bulk volume was down 6.5 percent for the month. Breakbulk cargo volume increased 44 percent compared to March 2001.
