At A.T. Kearny, Seger worked with major clients like General Motors, Unilever, BMG, Bristol Meyers Squibb, BASF Chemical, Philip Morris, and Avon. He held executive positions in sales, marketing and operations at Philip Morris and Chesebrough-Ponds prior to joining A.T. Kearney as a management consultant.
Seger was a frequent lecturer on supply chain issues at colleges and universities including Columbia, Michigan State, Syracuse, and the Center for Supply Chain Logistics in London. He also served on the review boards of the Journal Business Logistics, the International Journal of Supply Chain Logistics and Materials Management, and as a member of the advising council for the New School for Social Research.
Seger served as the president of the Council of Logistics Management (a 15,000 member worldwide organization now named the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals) in 1982 and as its chairman in 1983. Seger’s professional awards include the “Traffic Management Achievement Award” in recognition of his contributions to physical distribution in 1979 and the “Most Distinguished Service Worldwide Award” from the Council of Logistics Management in 1983.
Seger is survived by his wife, Eileen Sullivan Seger, a son and daughter, and five grandsons.
