Executive Moves: Dominion, OpenPort, Pool of Stake

   Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has appointed Kevin M. “Marty” Freeman, currently the company’s senior vice president of sales, to serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective May 16.
   Freeman has served in his current role since 2011 and has assumed ever-increasing roles and responsibilities in customer relations, sales and operations since joining Old Dominion in 1992. He brings 39 years of transportation industry experience to his new position, which includes responsibility for the company’s operations, sales, human resources and customer service functions.
   Greg C. Gantt, Old Dominion president and chief operating officer, said, “I am pleased to announce Marty’s promotion, which will be effective upon my previously announced transition to the combined role of president and chief executive officer. Marty has played a significant part in shaping Old Dominion into the industry-leading company it is today.    OpenPort, the digital logistics platform that uses blockchain technology to transform domestic distribution in emerging markets, announced Monday that former Powlett Group managing director Paul Bell will be joining its ranks as CIO. 
   Bell spent seven years with Powlett, an Australian boutique supply chain and logistics consultancy. He has 20 years of experience in both supply chain consultancy and industry-led business transformation. He has extensive experience in scoping, planning, managing and delivering supply chain and logistics systems programs for Australia’s largest shippers and third-party logistics providers.
   OpenPort said its blockchain-enabled electronic proof of delivery program has the potential to fundamentally change the logistics landscape, providing better than market liquidity for transporters and irrefutable transparency for shippers. 

   Serial entrepreneur, investor and consultant Ian Scarffe has joined the board of advisors for Pool of Stake, the first decentralized pool for proof of stake blockchains. 
   “As a highly experienced and seasoned blockchain advisor, Ian’s expertise will be an asset to the Pool of Stake ICO and its continued global expansion,” said Davide Luigi Borella, Pool of Stake chief executive officer.
