JAL copes with pending strike, excess capacity    Japan Airlines alerted the public Monday that aircraft and ground workers represented by several unions may go on strike Wednesday and that some domestic flights could be affected by Friday.
   Negotiations on new labor contracts are ongoing.
   The carrier said all domestic and international flights are expected to operate as normal Wednesday and Thursday, but a work stoppage by pilots may lead to some flight delays or cancellations within Japan on Friday.
   Meanwhile, JAL said it is further reducing capacity on international flights due to the lack of demand for air transport. The company said it is trimming the number of weekly flights from Tokyo to Seoul, South Korea, and New Delhi, as well as from Osaka to Seoul and Shanghai, China. It is also extending through October the reduction in frequencies to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei that were originally decreased for the March-June time period.
