PACER TAPS DOHERTY AS TREASURER

PACER TAPS DOHERTY AS TREASURER    Pacer International, a freight transportation and logistics services provider based in Walnut Creek, Calif., has named Joe Doherty as treasurer.
   Doherty served most recently as treasurer of RailAmerica Inc., based in Boca Raton, Fla., an operator of short-line and regional railroads. Doherty had worked 16 years for the Southern Pacific, serving as assistant vice president and assistant treasurer when it merged with Union Pacific in 1996.
'    Larry Yarberry, Pacer’s chief financial officer, had been acting as Pacer’s treasurer before the company hired Doherty. Yarberry will continue as CFO.
   Doherty will be responsible for Pacer’s cash management, banking relationships, and financing requirements, and will also participate in due diligence for future acquisitions.
   For the first quarter of 2000, Pacer reported consolidated gross revenues of $304 million, up 86 percent, in the first quarter of 1999.
