CMA CGM adds Miami to U.S.-Med service

Amerigo Service to call Miami, transship Mexico cargo    Liner carrier CMA CGM announced today that it is introducing on Oct. 1 an extra port of call in Miami for its Amerigo service.
   The new weekly call in Miami will provide access to the South Florida market and to Mexico, the company said. A weekly connection between Mexico and Miami provided by Victory Bridge will allow transhipment of cargo to and from Mexico, and will be bundled into a round-trip CMA CGM rate.
   The Amerigo service is covered by six container ships with an average capacity of between 3,000 TEU and 3,500 TEU, according to the carrier and data from BlueWater Reporting.
   The new rotation, which is scheduled to be covered in 42 days, is Malta, Livorno, Genoa, Fos-sur-mer, Barcelona, Valencia, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Tangiers, Valencia, Malta.
   It is likely the upgraded Amerigo service will be included in the Ocean Three alliance CMA CGM announced last week with CSCL and UASC on three major trade lanes, including the transatlantic. Details are still pending.
   CMA CGM, the third largest container line in the world, said the new Amerigo service’s advantages include more opportunities for breakbulk, reefer and out-of-gauge commodities; development of faster transit, West Mediterranean-Mexico trade; and high schedule reliability.
