Dubai’s Calogi expands air cargo, insurance

   Calogi, a Dubai-based Internet service portal offering global air cargo services, recently launched a new third-party logistics named c-Plus and a separate insurance offering.
   c-Plus offers services to both 3PLs and their users by allowing customers to book and pay for transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, insurance, road feeder, and packaging services in a single interface. Calogi said 3PLs can also set up products, services, and rates through a set of flexible, programmable parameters.
   WeCare logistics and Rainbow Cargo have already signed up, said Patrick Murray, head of Calogi’s worldwide cargo distribution network. He added the company guarantees payments and is able to offer the service “risk-free.”
   Shortly after the launch of c-Plus, Calogi entered an agreement with Dubai Insurance to offer cargo insurance online through Calogi’s portal.
   Under the agreement, insurance products will be offered for all domestic and international cargo shipments either while they are being transported or in the possession of a forwarder.
   Abdellatif Abuqurah, chief executive officer of Dubai Insurance, said the company was working with Calogi because of its established presence in the United Arab Emirates and it feels that area has a strong near-term potential for growth.
   Calogi currently has a user base of more than 500 companies and 1500 users.
