Towsley, who replaced Carmen Lunetta as the port’s permanent director eight years ago, said he plans to return to private sector work in the South Florida maritime community.
During his tenure cargo volumes grew to exceed 1 million TEUs per year.
Towsley was managing director at Tampa before taking over the Miami director’s job.
