Cardamone promoted to Long Beach port construction chief

Cardamone promoted to Long Beach port construction chief The Port of Long Beach has promoted Gary J. Cardamone, a 25-year veteran of the port and harbor development industry, to the newly created position of director of construction management.
   In his new role, Cardamone will lead the construction management division, a newly formed part of the Port's Engineering Bureau. Cardamone, who joined the port in 2002, had been serving as the port's deputy chief harbor engineer in charge of construction management. A chief responsibility of his new position will be the oversight of construction under the port's $200 million-a-year capital improvement program as well as management of the port's Surveys Section.
   Prior to joining the port staff, he was a vice president of construction services for CH2M HILL serving as a port consultant. Before joining CH2M HILL, he was assistant chief harbor engineer and director of construction management for the neighboring Port of Los Angeles.
