Maersk Line’s CRX service begins calling Cuba

The Danish ocean carrier’s CRX loop, which connects North Europe with Central American, will make its first call at Mariel, Cuba April 22.    Ocean carrier Maersk Line is adding a call at Mariel, Cuba to its CRX service between North Europe and Central America.
   The new call is being added with today’s sailing of the E.R. Cape Town from Cork, which is scheduled to arrive in Mariel April 22, according to Maersk’s most recent online service schedules.
   The revised port rotation of the CRX is now Cork, Tilbury, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Mariel, Big Creek, Manzanillo (Panama), Puerto Moin and Cork. Six vessels with an average capacity of 2,545 TEUs operate on the loop, according to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting.
   Maersk’s schedules illustrate the CRX will continue to operate with six vessels, even with the added call at Mariel.
   In addition to the CRX, two other services connect Cuba with Europe, according to BlueWater Reporting’s Port Dashboard tool. One of these loops is Nirint’s multi-purpose ECCE with an average vessel capacity of 829 TEUs. The ECCE operates between North Europe, the Caribbean, and the East Coast of North America.
   The other is Melfi Marine’s fully-cellular MEDCAN, which offers an average vessel capacity of 1,823 TEUs. The MEDCAN serves trade between the Mediterranean, Portugal, the East Coast of North America, and the Caribbean.
