Total Airport Services takes over SAS’s cargo handling at Newark

Total Airport Services takes over SAS’s cargo handling at Newark    SAS Cargo Group has entered an agreement with Total Airport Services to handle cargo and mail at its terminal in the Newark International Airport in New Jersey.
   Total Airport Service will operate a 62,000-square-foot facility for the Scandinavian air carrier. The facility can accommodate 56,000 tons of cargo a year, and handles about 26,000 tons from SAS and several other air carriers.
   “As handling cargo is not our core business, we feel that by choosing a dedicated cargo handling provider focusing entirely on this specific business segment, will enable us to increase the focus on sales related efforts to the ever increasing and highly demanding North American market,” said Kenneth Marx, SAS Cargo’s president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
   SAS Cargo has operated its own cargo terminal at Newark since 1998.
