Brunswick’s Mayor’s Point terminal sees 160% cargo growth in May    The Georgia Ports Authority's Mayor’s Point terminal in the port of Brunswick handled 38,864 tons of cargo in May, a 160 percent increase over May 2004.
   For the first 11 months of the 2005 fiscal year, Mayor’s Point terminal handled 316,155 tons of cargo, a 90 percent rise over the year-earlier period.
   The terminal, located on the East River in Brunswick, is a dedicated breakbulk facility handling forest products and solid wood products.
   “These new, positive results for Mayor’s Point are further evidence we must work harder than ever to deepen the channel to 36 feet,” said Doug J. Marchand, executive director of the Georgia Ports Authority. “Recent actions by the Senate Energy and Water Development appropriations subcommittees in support of $19.1 million to deepen the Brunswick Harbor channel are an outstanding development in the continued growth of the port.”
