Swing Transport upgrades tracking technology

   South Carolina-based Swing Transport has selected ORBCOMM to implement its tracking solution on 1,000 dry van trailers, providing web-based fleet management and real-time monitoring of the carrier’s freight.
   The carrier will receive ORBCOMM’s GT1100 devices, one-inch, self-powered sensors that attach to each truck. Swing will combine ORBOMM’s tracking and monitoring products with a transportation management system from McLeod Software.
   “We are confident that ORBCOMM’s solution will enable us to improve our tractor-to-trailer ratio, streamline operations and better manage our fleet through increased visibility and real-time trailer data where and when we need it,” Swing Transport’s president, Dan Summitt, said in a statement.
