Thompson Line notes Cayman demurrage Thompson Line has issued a notice to customers about Cayman Islands demurrage charges on equipment held past the 'free time' period, based on equipment types.
   It has imposed a charge of $20 a day for dry containers for the first seven days after the free time expires, then doubles that to $40 a day for the eighth through 30th days of demurrage. After that the charge goes up to $80 a day.
   For reefer equipment, the charge is $60 a day for the first seven days of demurrage, $120 per day for the eighth through 30th days, then $240 per day beginning on the 31st day.
   Thompson allows 14 calendar days for free time for general dry equipment in the Caymans, and seven calendar days for refrigerated containers.
   'Thompson Lines strives to meet the equipment needs of all our customers. In order to do so, it requires the prompt return of equipment so that it may be available to other customers,' a company statement said.
