In its latest newsletter, Alphaliner said 15 strings, or 39 percent of all transpacific services to the U.S. West Coast, have adopted extra-slow steaming and eight out of 19 services, or 42 percent of Far East to U.S. East Coast services, are slow steaming. The slow speeds add one to three days to eastbound transit times, the service said.
Alphaliner said in the Far East-to-North Europe trade, where much larger ships are in use than in the transpacific, 20 loops are slow steaming and only three are not.
