AirBridgeCargo Airlines launches new Africa service

The Russian cargo airline has started a twice-weekly freighter service to Africa with touchdowns in Libreville, Johannesburg and Niarobi.    AirBridgeCargo Airlines started a twice-weekly Boeing 747 freighter service to Africa.
   The service operates each Sunday and Thursday under an ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) contract with U.K.-based cargo airline CargoLogicAir, using CargoLogicAir’s flight numbers and air operator certificate.
   The routing starts from London-Stansted via Frankfurt to Libreville and onto Johannesburg, arriving back at Stansted via Nairobi.
   In addition, AirBridgeCargo Airline’s tonnage surged 30 percent year-over-year in January to 43,605 tons. The airline primarily attributed the growth to the expansion of its aircraft fleet and network in 2015.
   Newly launched destinations included Singapore Hanoi, Helsinki, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
   In addition, AirBridgeCargo Airline added three 747 freighters to its fleet.
   Overall, the airline operates a fleet of eight 747-8 freighters, five 747-400 extended-range freighters, and two 747-400 freighters.
   Based in Moscow, AirBridgeCargo Airlines is part of the Volga-Dnepr Group and provides cargo services that link Asia, Europe and North America.
