PIL, “K” Line to revamp Asia/Middle East loops

   Pacific International Lines and “K” Line are making changes to two services in the Far East/Middle East and Indian subcontinent trade from the end of June.
   The two carriers’ joint weekly China Straits Gulf (CSG) service will use five 2,000-TEU ships instead of six 1,200-TEU vessels. PIL’s Middle East Express (MEX), on which “K” Line takes slots, will include new calls at Qingdao and Kaohsiung. Transit time from Shanghai to Dubai on the MEX will also be reduced from 18 days to 14 days.
   The revised port rotation of the CSG will be: Shanghai; Ningbo; Xiamen; Singapore; Port Kelang; Jebel Ali, Dubai; Bandar Abbas; Karachi; Singapore; Laem Chabang; Hong Kong and Shanghai.
   The MEX will call: Qingdao, Shanghai, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Rashid, Damman, Mundra, Port Kelang, Singapore, Pasir Gudang, Kuantan, Hong Kong and back to Qingdao.
