UP boosts train speed on Las Vegas-area rail line

   Beginning yesterday, the Omaha, Neb.-based Class I railway sped trains up from 40 mph to 60 mph between Bonanza Road and Maule Avenue in the Las Vegas area.
   UP said it has invested $27.9 million for Las Vegas-area track improvements over the past two years.
   “Increased train speeds typically reduce motorist wait time at crossings and help Union Pacific more efficiently deliver the goods American businesses and families use daily,” the company said.
