Alfonso was director of marketing for Hutchison Port Holdings in Freeport, Bahamas, where he has worked since 1998. He also held management positions within the Port of Miami's intermodal division from 1987 to 1993, before advancing to assistant director of marketing and trade development. He also served as a clerk in the International Longshoremen Association.
Alfonso will report to Roy Schleicher, senior director of trade development and marketing.
