Matson promotes executives

Matson promotes executives    Oakland, Calif.-based Matson Navigation Co. has promoted several executives.
   Ron Barrett has been promoted to vice president, sales, U.S. mainland. Barrett has more than 30 years of experience in both operations and sales with Matson.
   John Dennen is now Matson’s vice president and controller. He joined Matson in 2002 as controller.
   Bal Dreyfus has been promoted to vice president, West Coast terminals and vehicle operations. In addition to his current vehicle operations responsibilities, Dreyfus will now oversee the management of Matson’s terminal operations in Long Beach, Oakland and Seattle.
   Gary Nakamatsu is now vice president, sales, Hawaii. He has been head of Matson’s Hawaii sales division since 1987.
   Dale Hendler has been promoted to vice president, corporate development and planning. In addition, Hendler is also managing the company’s Guam/China project office, overseeing Matson’s planned re-entry into the transpacific trade after an absence of more than 35 years. Matson said in February it would start a weekly U.S. West Coast/Hawaii/Guam/China service early next year when its 10-year vessel operating alliance in the transpacific and U.S. mainland/Guam trade agreement with APL ends.
