DHL starts Nhava Sheva/L.A. LCL service    DHL said Thursday it has begun less-than-containerload service from India's biggest container port to Los Angeles.
   The service, provided by DHL's in-house non-vessel-operating common carrier Danmar Lines, will link the Nhava Sheva port complex near Mumbai with the Port of Los Angeles.
   Nhava Sheva's three container terminals handle roughly 60 percent of India's containerized trade, and April volume surged 21 percent over the same month in 2009.
   'The U.S. is India's second-largest export partner and third-largest import partner,' said Amadou Diallo, chief executive officer, South Asia Pacific, DHL Global Forwarding. 'The launch of this direct LCL route connecting Nhava Sheva to Los Angeles will further facilitate foreign trade between the two countries and support the growing needs of small and medium enterprises.'
   DHL recently opened another key LCL connection from India, linking Cochin with south Asia's biggest transshipment hub, Colombo.
