BDP buys into Mexico’s JB Cargo Group

BDP buys into Mexico’s JB Cargo Group BDP International, the Philadelphia-based global logistics and transportation management provider, has acquired a major interest in Mexican logistics firm JB Cargo Group.
   The Mexico City-based company will now operate as a joint venture, retaining its present management team but changing its operating name to BDP International Mexico. The company also has operations in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Queretaro and Puebla.
   The combined BDP/JB Cargo entity will have a global network of subsidiaries, joint ventures and strategic partnerships in 113 countries.
   “Beyond the competitive necessity of having a more substantive presence in the growing Mexican market, BDP’s investment in JB Cargo Group reflects a good fit between two family-owned companies that share similar values,” said H. Timothy Bolte, BDP’s vice president, Pan Americas.
   Mauricio Boy, JB Cargo’s executive director, said: “JB Cargo Group was doing quite nicely as a standalone regional enterprise. But we recognized the leverage of a respected brand in the industry could help us meet the challenges of the global economy and become even more effective for our customers.
