FMCSA shuts down Florida carrier

Ken’s Trucking shuttered because of public safety concerns.    The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has shuttered Ken’s Trucking of Grand Ridge, Fla., due to “widespread violations of critical safety regulations,” the agency said.
   The agency said Ken’s Trucking has been in five crashes over the past year, and two of those crashes were the result of faulty machinery. In a third crash, the driver responsible had previously tested positive for methamphetamines, resulting in the suspension of his commercial driver’s license. During the same year-long time period, the 29 drivers for the carrier received 25 traffic citations, including 10 speeding tickets.
   “Complying with federal safety regulations for commercial truck and bus companies is critical because in an instant, a seemingly minor infraction can result in a needless crash with tragic consequences,” FMCSA Acting Administrator Scott Darling, III, stated. “Our message is this: companies that choose to run outside the law and put the public at risk will be put out of business.”
