Lufthansa Cargo creates logistics services company

Lufthansa Cargo creates logistics services company Germany's Lufthansa Cargo has established a company to provide freight handling services for itself and air freight forwarders in Frankfurt Airport, Europe’s biggest air cargo hub.
   Handling Counts GmbH is wholly owned by Lufthansa Cargo, and has 100 employees. The airline plans to extend the company's activities across the whole of Germany.
   'We have founded this company in consultation with our collective bargaining partners and, in the physical cargo handling area, we will be absolutely competitive in respect of both costs and efficiency,' said Karl-Heinz K'pfle, Lufthansa Cargo’s board member in charge of operations.
   Christian Haug, managing director of handling counts, said: 'Our objective is to rank among the top three warehouse logistics services providers in Frankfurt. Our proximity to Lufthansa Cargo will allow us to coordinate our processes so as to increase handling speed and reduce costs accordingly.'

A1Express offers 'next flight out' courier service
   A1Express, a nationwide same-day courier and delivery company, said it has expanded its services to include a next flight out option.
   The service will use partner courier companies and major airline schedules to get packages across the United States in the timeliest manner possible. An A1Express courier partner will pick up the package and drop it off at the proper airline terminal of the next flight out.
   Upon arrival, another A1Express courier partner picks up the package and delivers it to its final destination.
