OOCL, Hapag-Lloyd close Montreal/Liverpool service

OOCL, Hapag-Lloyd close Montreal/Liverpool service OOCL and Hapag Lloyd said Monday they are immediately suspending one string of their SLCS/GEX service linking Montreal with European ports due to poor demand.
   OOCL markets the service as GEX while Hapag-Lloyd calls it the SLCS. The lines will shutter the GEX3 loop, which called at Liverpool and Antwerp. The GEX3 had a port rotation of Montreal, Liverpool, Antwerp and Montreal.
   Liverpool has been added to GEX1, which now has a rotation of Liverpool, Antwerp, Southampton, Le Havre and Montreal.
   The GEX2 is unchanged with a port rotation of Montreal, Antwerp, Hamburg and Montreal.
   “Members will continue to closely monitor the trade patterns to ensure the future needs of our customers are fully met,” the carriers said in a statement.
