SeaFreight announces rate increases As part of a series of rate increases planned this month by members of a Caribbean trade discussion agreement, Miami-based SeaFreight Line said it will increase rates from the United States to five destinations effective Sept. 30.
   Member carriers of the Caribbean discussion group jointly plan their rate hikes, but because member carriers have widely divergent ports of call and service frequencies, individual lines announce rate hike separately for specific locations.
   SeaFreight said it will increase rates for Jamaica, St. Lucia and Grenada by $50 for 20-foot containers, $100 for 40-footers, $120 for 45-foot equipment, and $50 per vehicles not exceeding 730 cubic feet.
   For Trinidad and St. Vincent, the increase will be $100 for 20-foot containers, $200 for 40-footers, and $240 for 45-foot units. The vehicle charge for units under 730 cubic feet will be $100.
   SeaFreight last week implemented increases to Venezuela of $200 for 20-foot, $400 for 40-foot, and $450 for 45-foot equipment.
