The two containers have similar names. The “Hard Open Top Cradle Container” is made for transporting big steel coils and is equipped with a cradle, in which the steel coils remain safely on their places during the voyage. The company said it can be lifted with a load of up to 40 tons, but it can also be used for even heavier cargo — if the container is lifted empty on the vessel, and the cargo is then placed in the container.

Then the container functions as a secure supporting cradle. “This is the only way to transport big steel coils also on the weather deck,” said Markku Yli-Kahri, who took part in the product development for the company.
The company said the container could also be used to carry bulk cargo such as ferrochromium so the container can be used for backhaul cargo to the steel factory.
The second product, “Hard Open Top Low Cradle Container,” has three transverse cradles for carry smaller coils.

“This container is more specialized than its bigger sister and it has been designed for traffic where the fast circulation of the product is important. The loading of the coils and the handling of the container top is very easy, which speeds up the handling even further,” the company said.
