The “Amerigo Express” service will call at Malta, Leghorn, Genoa, Fos, Valencia, Lisbon, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Port Everglades, Lisbon and Malta. Lisbon will be both first port in and last port out in Europe.
The new service, still subject to Federal Maritime Commission approval, will employ five ships of abound 1,600 TEUs — four provided by CMA CGM and one by China Shipping.
CMA CGM said that, once the service starts, it will terminate its existing slot charter arrangement with Maersk Sealand in this trade.
